Requirements

• Experience: 1 year
• Licensure: Texas RN license or Compact license (Compact License Accepted: Yes)
• Certifications: AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS, BLS, NRP
• Previous Charge Nurse Experience: Required
• Skills:
  • Antepartum, Labor & Delivery
  • Assist with amniocentesis, sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
  • NST (Non‑Stress Tests), OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests)
  • Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus
  • Sterile vaginal exam, obstetrical triage
  • Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) and External Fetal Monitoring
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Administration of blood & blood products, drawing venous blood
  • Starting and maintaining IVs, use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring
  • Antiseizure, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), terbutaline
  • Assist with high‑risk delivery, vaginal delivery, C‑section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Hemorrhage/shock management, C‑section recovery
  • APGAR scoring, “Baby Catcher” duties, infant identification, radiant warmers/thermoregulation
  • Epidural and general anesthesia assistance, pain assessment & management
  • Foley catheter insertion/management, fundus / lochia / perineum care
  • Wound assessment/care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy‑induced hypertension
  • Isolation precautions/PPE, cervical cerclage, D & C, tubal ligation
