About the Role
Provide comprehensive care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby. Responsibilities include administering medications, performing procedures, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Administer blood and blood products
- Manage antihypertensive medications
- Perform APGAR scoring
- Assist with high-risk deliveries
- Assist with sterile speculum exams
- Assist with vaginal deliveries
- Manage asthma and diabetes mellitus conditions
- Teach breastfeeding support and lactation support
- Perform cesarean sections and episiotomies/incisions
- Collect cord samples and perform cord care
- Monitor hemorrhages and shock
- Administer epidural anesthesia and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Manage multiple gestations and preterm labor
- Perform neonatal resuscitation
- Provide discharge teaching to parents
- Manage postpartum hemorrhage and pre-eclampsia/eclampsia
- Use internal and external fetal monitoring
- Administer oxytocin and insulin drips
- Assess and manage wound care
Requirements
- At least 1 year of nursing experience
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Intermediate certification in Fetal Monitoring (FHM)
- AWHONN certification (Advanced Wound, Ostomy, Continence, and NPO Nurses)
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing
- Experience with neonatal resuscitation
- Knowledge of obstetric procedures and protocols
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
