About the role

Assignment length: 13 weeks. Shift: Days, 3x 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30). Facility is a Level 1 trauma center with 968 beds and uses Epic for charting. Patient ratios: 1:1 on days and nights, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Administration of blood & blood products
• APGAR scores
• Cesarean Section (circulate and recover)
• Drawing venous blood
• Episiotomy/incisional care
• Foley catheter insertion/management
• Fundus / lochia / perineum care
• ID/Security banding
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Labor & Delivery, including antepartum and vaginal delivery
• Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Management of multiple births
• NST (Non-Stress Tests)
• Pain assessment & management
• Pitocin (oxytocin) administration
• Postpartum hemorrhage management
• Pregnancy-induced hypertension care
• Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Sterile vaginal exams
• Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) and Internal Fetal Monitoring
• Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring
• Collect cord samples
• Epidural anesthesia support
• Facility birth volume: 100-200 births/month
• Radiant warmers/thermoregulation
• Wound assessment and care

Requirements

• 1 year of experience as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
• Active OH license or Compact License (quick application process, 2 weeks or less)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced
