About the role

This is a 13-week travel contract position in Utica, New York. The registered nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a focus on neuro, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory patients. Common diagnoses include COPD, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, and post-operative conditions. The unit utilizes specialty equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo. The RN may work with patients on chronic ventilation who are unable to wean off.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the IMCU/PCU.
• Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, and post-operative recovery.
• Operate and monitor specialty equipment including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo.
• Care for patients on chronic ventilation.
• Float to other units as required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in IMCU/PCU.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Active NY RN license; all RN licenses must be verified through a NURSYS report.
• Experience with EPIC EMR.
• Valid driver’s license with an address matching demographics.

Schedule

• Day shift from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Block scheduling is not promised or guaranteed.
