About the role

Intermediate Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves providing post-operative care for vascular, kidney, and liver transplant patients, performing hemodynamic and neurovascular assessments, monitoring surgical sites and graft function, and administering essential medications and therapies. It is an excellent opportunity for RNs with experience in transplant or IMCU settings to contribute to patient recovery and long-term health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide post-operative care for vascular, kidney, and liver transplant patients
  • Perform hemodynamic and neurovascular assessments
  • Monitor surgical sites and graft function
  • Administer essential medications and therapies
  • Participate in float rotation within the specialty, other units, and sister facilities as required
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of approximately 24
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Adhere to transplant-related procedures and patient care protocols
  • Maintain compliance with certification and documentation deadlines (e.g., CPI, NRP)

Requirements

  • Valid MD or Compact RN license
  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • 2 years of IMC (Intermediate Care Unit) experience
  • Familiarity with Epic charting system
  • Experience in acute hospital settings
  • Certification in CPI and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with transplant care
  • Experience with neurovascular assessments
  • Experience with immunosuppressive medication management

Schedule

  • Dayshift, 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:30
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
