About the Role

18-bed ICU (all private rooms with negative pressure capability). Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 (1:1 for CRRT/Organ Donation; may flex to 1:3 during overflow). Average daily census: 13 patients.

Responsibilities

  • Care for critically ill patients with conditions including sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, CHF/COPD, DKA, overdose, renal failure, neurosurgical patients (lumbar drains, ventriculostomies), general surgery, MI, and vascular patients.
  • Manage CRRT, IABP, mechanical ventilators, post-code/therapeutic hypothermia, vasoactive drips, sedation & paralytics, central line care/removal, and titration of critical care drips.
  • Interpret rhythm strips using Phillips telemetry monitoring.
  • Float to Stepdown and Med-Surg when needed.
  • Adhere to self-scheduling or block scheduling based on unit needs; every other weekend required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of ICU/critical care experience.
  • Previous travel experience preferred.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Experience with CRRT, IABP, mechanical ventilators, post-code care, vasoactive drips, sedation & paralytics, central line care, and titration of critical care drips.
  • Unexpired Driver’s License required.
  • Willingness to float within skill set and cover holidays as needed.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Self-scheduling available; block scheduling considered (not guaranteed).
  • Every other weekend required.
  • Rare call/standby requirement.

Support & Resources

  • Intensivist on-site: 7 AM–7 PM; Hospitalist overnight.
  • Dedicated Respiratory Therapist during the day.
  • Pharmacist on unit daily (7:00 AM–4:30 PM).
  • 1–2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) depending on census.
  • EMR: EPIC.

Dress Code

Royal Blue scrubs. No hoodies or sweatshirts.
