West Virginia University Hospital (WVU) Unit Overview
- Beds: 18 (planned expansion to 27 beds)
- Patient Ratio: Standard: 1:2, occasionally 1:3 (overflow ICU or PCU downgrade)

Experience
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/Critical Care experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Experience with:

- Levophed

Leadership & Support
- Charge Nurse (typically without a patient assignment)
- House Supervisor available 24/7
- Support Staff: No Nurse Aides assigned to the ICU
- Physician Coverage: Hospitalist available 24/7
- Intensivist coverage available but not always in-house
- Respiratory Support: RT Coverage, RT is not stationed inside the ICU but is readily available 24/7
- Equipment: Mechanical Ventilation, Trach Ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP, Telemetry, IV Pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
- Specialty Beds: Telemetry, Telemetry monitoring available, No Monitor Techs
- Primary float areas: Stepdown Unit
- Additional float areas if needed: Med-Surg/Telemetry (rare), Emergency Department to care for ICU or Stepdown boarded patients
- If floated to Med-Surg: Full assignment of 5–6 patients
- Floating: Travelers are expected to float as needed
- Call Requirement: No call or standby
- Floating areas: Stepdown Unit, Additional float areas if needed: Med-Surg/Telemetry (rare), Emergency Department to care for ICU or Stepdown boarded patients
Dress Code
- RN/LPN: Solid Navy scrubs
- CNA/Monitor Tech: Dark Grey/Pewter
- Additional requirements: No embroidery or patterned scrubs, WVU Medicine fleece or solid grey, black, navy, or royal blue zip-up jackets permitted, Solid white, grey, or black undershirts matching scrub top, Closed-toe shoes only, Crocs are not permitted
