About the role
The ICU registered nurse provides direct nursing care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU environment. Responsibilities include monitoring and assessing patients using advanced medical equipment, administering medications and treatments, performing invasive procedures, managing life-support systems, recognizing emergency situations, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide critical nursing care to ICU patients
- Monitor vital parameters using advanced medical equipment
- Administer medications and treatments
- Perform invasive procedures (e.g., intubation, central line insertion, arterial blood draws)
- Manage ventilator and life-support equipment
- Respond to emergencies and document patient status accurately
- Participate in continuing education
- Precept new staff as required
Requirements
- Valid registered nurse (compact) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- CRRT experience
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including every other weekend (possibly every third weekend) and rotating holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with invasive procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and arterial blood draws
Schedule
- Rotating shifts; 3x 12-hour shifts per week
- Minimum 36 hours per week
