As an Emergency Services Registered Nurse, you will provide critical care to patients in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at the facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care to patients in a fast-paced emergency room environment
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at the facility
• Care for a very busy patient population of all ages with diverse medical complaints
• Manage daily trauma cases including MVAs, mass casualties, GSWs, stabbings, stroke alerts, and STEMIs
• Care for patients from nearby prisons (may arrive with guards)
• Manage behavioral holds including Alzheimer's patients
• Handle occasional pediatric holds awaiting transfer

Unit details

• Unit Size: 32 beds, 5 recliner chairs (can flex up to 10 hallway beds)
• Ratio: 1:4–5 (ratios are subject to change based on facility needs and are not guaranteed)
• Support Staff: 2–5 techs per shift; unit secretary; may include LPN support per RN zone
• Equipment: Alaris pumps, Panda warmers, Hamilton ventilators, Autopulse, GlideScope, AmbuScope, ultrasound, EKG machine, bladder scanner, cast cutter, Philips monitoring, Omnicell

Required qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Virginia RN license
• Experience in emergency nursing
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
• SSN required
• DOB required
• References: 1 reference in entire work history
• Perm address over 50 miles
• Trauma/large ER experience
• TNCC certification
• Crisis prevention training

Preferred qualifications

• Nursing diploma required to start
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Schedule

• Duration: 18 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Pay

• Pay Rate: $1949.00 – $2049.00
• Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined
