About the role

The position is for a travel nurse RN in the Emergency Department at Blue Hills freestanding emergency department (FSED) in Roanoke, VA, near Salem. The FSED is part of a 354‑bed community hospital with Level III trauma center designation and is a teaching hospital, featuring eight private treatment rooms and advanced diagnostic capabilities. Salem, VA (population ~25k) is the Roanoke County seat, offering a charming downtown with historical elements, a vibrant food & drink scene, and rich arts & cultural amenities. The area lies in Virginia’s Blue Ridge region, close to scenic hiking trails, the Roanoke Star on Mill Mountain, the Natural Bridge of Virginia, zoos, parks, the Salem Science Museum and Planetarium, Grandin Theater, and the Roanoke Symphony.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Current CERT‑TNCC certification
• Social Security Number (SSN) required
• Date of Birth (DOB) required
• Work history with no more than 90 days of gap in the last year

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent emergency department experience
• Preferred experience with Meditech electronic medical record (EMR) systems (ENPC)

Pay

Pay rate: $1,783.00 – $1,874.00 (based on 12‑hour shifts, 36 hours per week, subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
