Job Summary

The Emergency Room Nurse in Auburn, Nebraska will provide urgent and trauma care within a busy emergency department. The role involves managing a variety of acute cases, including strokes, myocardial infarctions, and trauma incidents, with a team of licensed professionals. The candidate will rotate through different patient care responsibilities, including stabilizing critical patients and supporting the on-call trauma team.

Schedule

Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in similar hospital settings
  • Located within the United States
  • Valid license to practice as a nurse

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Unit Notes

  • Emergency department with 2 trauma beds and 2 clinic rooms
  • No fast track or triage area
  • Staff includes 2 RNs and 1 LPN or RN
  • Patient ratios typically 1:1 to 1:3

Team Composition

  • ED physician or mid-level provider always present
  • Charge nurse/house supervisor available
  • ER techs, paramedics, and patient sitters on duty

Equipment & Capabilities

  • Mindray monitors
  • In-house lab 24/7
  • X-ray and CT available for patient transport
  • RT equipment operated by paramedics during day and evening shifts

Additional Information

  • Full orientation training provided
  • Scrubs are not supplied
  • Shift scheduling is managed with consideration for preferences and block scheduling
  • Every other or third weekend work
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby required
  • Float to MS (Medical Surgical) unit may be needed during shifts

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
