About the role

Emergency Room Nurse position in Prescott Valley, AZ. This role involves providing critical nursing care in a Level 4 trauma Emergency Department specializing in trauma, stroke, and STEMI receiving. The position offers a dynamic environment with a focus on acute patient management and fast-paced decision-making.

Schedule

  • Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical nursing care in a Level 4 trauma Emergency Department
  • Manage acute patient care and make fast-paced decisions
  • Read telemetry monitor strips (available on all beds)
  • Collaborate with a team including physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, paramedics, techs, and respiratory therapists
  • Handle patient transport and airway management as needed
  • Utilize hospital-based electronic charting system

Requirements

  • Valid certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience or equivalent
  • Arizona state nursing license

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Experience in critical care and trauma nursing
  • Proficiency in conscious sedation
  • Experience managing common ER diagnoses such as chest pain, abdominal pain, minor trauma, and respiratory distress

Additional Information

  • ER handles an average of 80-110 patients daily
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 for general areas, 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity
  • 24/7 staffing support including physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, and house supervisors
  • Onsite radiology services adjacent to the ER with internal transport capabilities
  • Orientation includes hospital-wide and ED-specific training overseen by mentors

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
