Travel Emergency Dept RN - $2,381 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department in Alexandria, Louisiana. This is a 13‑week travel assignment requiring 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience and will work with a diverse team of caregivers to evaluate, triage, and implement care according to physician instructions in a fast‑paced emergency environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care
• Clean and bandage wounds
• Provide IV therapy
• Maintain supplies and medical equipment
• Report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies
• Document medical history and check for patient allergies
• Obtain and monitor patient vital signs
• Monitor patients’ emotional and physical well‑being
• Perform minor medical operations
• Advise patients and families on illnesses or injuries
• Plan long‑term care needs

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• PALS certification
• CPI certification
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (additional certifications may be required before assignment)

• Ability to cope with stress in a fast‑paced setting
• Ability to relate to patients of all ages and backgrounds
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods
• Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Able to lift 20 pounds routinely; patient moving/lifting may require up to 50 pounds
