About the role
Travel nursing assignment in Hopewell, Virginia for an Emergency Department (ED) RN. Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts.
Unit Details
- Number of Beds: 22 (with vertical space for additional patients)
- Number of Staff: approximately 50
- Day Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator (CC), 5-6 nurses, 1 tech, 1 medic
- Night Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator (CC), 5-6 nurses, 1 secretary, 1 tech/medic
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Equipment: Phillips & GE Monitors, Level 1 Rapid Infuser
- EMR: Meditech (EDM)
Responsibilities
Perform typical emergency department procedures, including:
- Cardioversion
- Central line placements
- Cardiac arrests
- IV insertions, EKGs, and other basic ER skills
- Pacemaker interrogation
- Code Stroke protocol
- Code Sepsis protocol
- Suture/abscess set-up
Requirements
Must-have skills (candidates without these will not be considered):
- Strong IV skills for adults and pediatric patients
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred skills (candidates with these will be considered first):
- Trauma experience, TNCC certification
- Meditech experience
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Floating
Potential to float to the facility’s Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED), approximately 15 minutes away.
