About the role

Travel nursing assignment in Hopewell, Virginia for an Emergency Department (ED) RN. Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts.

Unit Details

  • Number of Beds: 22 (with vertical space for additional patients)
  • Number of Staff: approximately 50
  • Day Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator (CC), 5-6 nurses, 1 tech, 1 medic
  • Night Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator (CC), 5-6 nurses, 1 secretary, 1 tech/medic
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4
  • Equipment: Phillips & GE Monitors, Level 1 Rapid Infuser
  • EMR: Meditech (EDM)

Responsibilities

Perform typical emergency department procedures, including:

  • Cardioversion
  • Central line placements
  • Cardiac arrests
  • IV insertions, EKGs, and other basic ER skills
  • Pacemaker interrogation
  • Code Stroke protocol
  • Code Sepsis protocol
  • Suture/abscess set-up

Requirements

Must-have skills (candidates without these will not be considered):

  • Strong IV skills for adults and pediatric patients
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred skills (candidates with these will be considered first):

  • Trauma experience, TNCC certification
  • Meditech experience

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Floating

Potential to float to the facility’s Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED), approximately 15 minutes away.
