Travel CVOR RN - $3,067 per week

About the Role

Modern Healthcare Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN CVOR for a travel nursing job in Des Moines, Iowa. This is a full-time position offering 4x10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with rotating days off. A holiday rotation is included. The position requires 40 hours per week with on-call responsibilities of up to two overnight shifts per week and one weekend per month. Candidates must be available to work one weekend each month. The on-call schedule extends from Friday at 5 PM through Monday at 6:30 AM.

Unit Information

• Patient Types: Diverse caseload including cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries.
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Bed Size: 16
• Average Caseload: Expectation of 35-50 cases per day with turnover times of less than 20 minutes.
• Special Equipment: 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, Synthes or Stryker for orthopedic trauma.
• Operating Rooms: 16 ORs, typically running 12-14, with provision for level 1 trauma cases.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 24 months of current operating room experience, with a focus on Cardiovascular OR/CVOR.
• Proficient in general circulating within the operating room.
• Strong and proficient experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures.
• Basic experience in general surgery circulating.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record systems within the last three years.
• Prior experience in a Level I trauma center is preferred. Trauma Level II experience is required.
• Travel experience must include a completed assignment within the last 15 months.
• Scrub experience including open heart surgeries is required.

Orientation Schedule

The orientation program consists of approximately:

• 2-3 weeks in general operating room settings for familiarization and successful circulation.
• 2 weeks in vascular, focusing on scrubbing due to the CVOR's involvement in vascular cases.
• Transition to circulating heart cases, followed by a gradual introduction to scrubbing responsibilities.

Certification and Licensure

• Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• State License Requirements: Active nursing license in the state of Iowa or a compact/multistate license is mandatory at the time of application.
