Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Years of Experience: 2 years required; 1 year may be considered if from a Level 1 trauma facility.
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS. For Barnes-Jewish Hospital location only, ACLS is required for all RNs, except Behavioral Health, Case Manager & Outpatient.
- Previous Experience:
- Scrub experience for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery is required.
- Must have sufficient level 1 trauma experience.
- Experience with heart and lung transplant needed for night shift.
- Skills:
- Scrub Cardiovascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Transplant Surgery*, Vascular Surgery skills required.
- Competency in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Intestinal procedures*, Kidney*, Liver*, Lung, Mitral valve replacement, and Organ donation*.
- Able to manage emergent cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Level of Education: BSN preferred.
- Work Conditions: No locals accepted - candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility. Pending license is accepted. Must be willing to float within the service line.
- Additional Requirements:
- Scrub navy uniform required.
- Charting experience preferred with EPIC system.
- Responsible for entering missing instruments into the CensiTrac system.
- Call requirement is flexible, determined by unit needs, and may include more or less than 3-4 weekday/weeknight and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule.
- Compliance with monthly parking protocols and potential fees for rotating shifts.
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: Cardiac and Thoracic cases primarily, with exposure to Vascular open and endovascular procedures, Transplant surgeries (Liver, Kidney, Pancreas), and Whipples (Pancreatic Procedures).
- Orientation and Compliance: Compliance requirements must be met by 3pm CST on the Monday before the initial start date. Modules completed pre-start, required for RNs and LVS, should be started within 1 week of signing the contract and completed 2 Fridays prior to start.
