About the role

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment at a teaching hospital in Maine, primarily working in X-ray with rotation into CT.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an imaging department at an 89-bed teaching facility with 1 CT room and 3 X-ray rooms (2 general, 1 fluoro/pain clinic)
  • This role is primarily X-ray-based with rotation into CT
  • CT patient population includes ED, outpatient, and inpatient cases, primarily adult/geriatric with some pediatric patients
  • CT case types include oncology, general abdominal pain, post-surgical, trauma, and biopsies (training provided for biopsies)
  • X-ray cases include outpatient, inpatient (ED/ICU/MedSurg), and OR coverage including fluoroscopy, C-arm, ortho and ortho trauma, chest X-rays, abdominal scans, and vascular
  • Average volume of 25–30 patients per day
  • May float between CT, X-ray, OR, and bedside portables
  • Variable 40-hour weekly schedule, typically Monday–Friday; weekend coverage required when weekend staff are unavailable, with advance notice when possible
  • No on-call required
  • Holiday coverage expected, typically 50–75% of holidays during the contract period
  • Schedule is set in 6-week increments by the manager
  • EMR: Cerner; PACS: AGFA Enterprise Imaging
  • CT equipment includes Siemens X.Cite and GE 16-slice PET CT (used as backup); experience with Siemens and GE preferred but not required
  • X-ray equipment includes Siemens, T-Rad with Siemens ART PIX, Canon Ultimax Hybrid C-arm (fluoroscopy/pain clinic), Philips C-arm (OR), Philips and Siemens portable units, GE AMX 4 portable, and mini C-arm for ortho

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of CT experience required
  • Current BLS, ARRT (R) – CT certification required
  • Maine state license or compact license required; license required if applicable
  • Experience with CTA studies and general radiographic studies
  • IV start skills and biopsy experience highly preferred
  • OR/C-arm and fluoroscopy experience highly preferred; must be comfortable being trained and taking on these duties if not already experienced
  • Experience with adult/geriatric and pediatric patient populations
  • Full SSN required for consideration
  • Two professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, or director (charge RN acceptable; peer references not accepted)
  • Copies of all certifications required for consideration
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Flu vaccination required for clearance to start

Benefits

Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
