Travel Cable Technician

About the Role

We are accepting applications for Travel Technicians to work at various locations across the United States. This job is 100% travel and involves installing low voltage wiring and equipment such as IP cameras, Wireless Access Points, Routers, Switches, etc. Qualified candidates should expect to be on the road anywhere from 2–10 months at a time. Travel Technicians will work with a partner 6 days a week for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities

• Pull and terminate low voltage cable.
• Install network equipment within commercial settings.
• Follow instructions and code when pulling cable.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
• Ensure all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
• Install cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and inner duct.
• Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational.
• Troubleshoot issues with the cable network.
• Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by the client, their customers, or OSHA.
• Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

• Willingness and financial ability to travel to Lowell, AR for new hire orientation within 1 week of accepting the offer.
• Responsibility for initial travel costs to Lowell, AR, including food and lodging for the first week.
• 100% travel across the USA for the duration of the project (2–10 months at a time).
• Ability to operate a scissor lift and work at heights.
• Possession of required hand tools: screwdrivers (standard and Phillips), snips, punch down (impact), toner and probe, pliers, adjustable wrenches, joint pliers, and lineman pliers.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years.
• Experience as a Data Cable Technician.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in cramped spaces.
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more multiple times per shift.
• Ability to work night shifts (7 pm – 7 am, 5 days a week).
• Ability to fill out work orders and care for company-provided tools.
• Compliance with PPE requirements; must provide your own steel-toed boots.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.00 – $22.00 per hour.

Schedule

• 7 pm – 7 am, 5 days a week.
• Typical work week of 70 hours, including travel time.

Skills

• Low voltage installation.
• Installation of WAP, CCTV, and access control systems.
• Cable installation (Cat5, Cat6).
• Punchdown and telecommunications.
