Travel - Assistant Superintendent - Multifamily Construction

Responsibilities

  • Cook up and oversee all construction-related activities tied to the project.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate and communicate with field personnel to ensure project completion on time, within budget, and with quality craftsmanship.
  • Create and manage the project schedule, supervising its execution until completion.
  • Identify potential issues and offer realistic solutions to the Project Management Team to keep the construction schedule on track.
  • Inspect or oversee inspections of all contracted work to ensure compliance with contracts and local regulations.
  • Coordinate and schedule all required municipal inspections and utilities from various companies.
  • Coordinate and oversee site testing and inspections as agreed upon with the Owners.
  • Work with Project Engineers and Project Managers to reserve materials and coordinate deliveries with suppliers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all Garrett Companies personnel, the design team, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and municipal representatives.
  • Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and address any hazards immediately.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentorship.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports documenting weather, field conditions, manpower, progress, and any accidents or quality issues.
  • Organize and lead weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Provide bi-weekly progress reports to the Project Management Team.
  • Attend and assist in running monthly progress meetings with the Project Management Team and subcontractors.
  • Train and educate the field personnel as needed to ensure a successful project.
  • Maintain an organized job site and construction office.
  • Foster a positive work environment to support the professional growth and development of employees.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of progressive field experience managing multi-family construction projects.
  • A solid grasp of construction methods, scheduling, codes, inspections, and utility coordination, along with proficiency in project management software (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
  • A proven ability to supervise field staff and subcontractors, organize progress meetings, and foster a safe, positive, and professional work environment.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills, capable of identifying issues early and implementing effective solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing daily/weekly reports, coordinating with project teams, and maintaining positive relationships with owners, contractors, and municipalities.
