Responsibilities
- Reviews and codes clinical notes and operative reports for assigned specialty/specialties.
- Codifies charges into billing system in a timely manner.
- Works with the denials team to resolve coding-related denials and rejections, including recommendation of new/updated coding edits.
- Maintains current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations through pertinent materials.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum two years of professional fee coding and/or reimbursement experience required.
- Relevant education may substitute for experience requirement.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology is preferred.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology is preferred.
- Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC required.
