About the role
The Trauma Program Manager is responsible for the coordination of the clinical, educational, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all components of the Trauma Services Program. Is responsible for collaboration with all healthcare professionals to establish the standards of trauma care and assures that all are current designation requirements as defined by the Texas Department of State Health Services or the American College of Surgeons.
Responsibilities
- Developing, directing, coordinating, and implementing trauma care policies and procedures throughout the organization
- Acting as a resource person and consultant to all patient care areas regarding patient care, problem solving, identification, and correction of problems as related to the trauma patient
- Directing the Trauma Performance Improvement program
- Assessing needs, evaluating alternatives and recommending physical facilities, equipment and supplies for trauma care delivery
- Maintaining effective lines of communication with the Texas Department of State Health Services and/or the American College of Surgeons, area EMS systems, State-wide organizations, and the Southeast Texas Regional Area Council
- Coordinating and/or facilitating educational, outreach, and injury prevention efforts
- Actively participating in the coordination of hospital preparedness efforts throughout the organization and communicating/coordinating with local, statewide, and national preparedness entities
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree required
- (RN) Registered Nurse license required
- 5 years of Emergency Department or Critical Care nursing experience with the care of trauma patients
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
