About the Role

The Trauma Program Registrar (RN) works in a collaborative environment within Trauma Services at St. Mary Medical Center to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. The primary objective is to improve the quality of a Level II Trauma Center by maintaining the efficient operation of the trauma registry.

This role performs a wide range of technical duties, including chart review, data abstracting and submission, retrieving and compiling statistical information on all trauma patients, and conducting performance improvement (PI) studies based on predetermined criteria. The Registrar works closely with trauma surgeons to meet the requirements for the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF).

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients, develop, evaluate, and modify care plans under limited supervision.
  • Interpret and perform complex patient-care procedures specific to expertise.
  • Function as a professional caregiver within a team to accomplish patient outcomes.
  • Provide care via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, environment/technology, and collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Maintain the trauma registry, including chart review, data abstracting, and submission.
  • Retrieve and compile statistical information on trauma patients.
  • Perform performance improvement (PI) studies based on predetermined criteria.
  • Collaborate with trauma surgeons to meet Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse license by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
  • Prior relevant experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of Critical Care RN experience preferred.
  • Certifications aligned with area of responsibility; BLS required.
