Trauma Prevention EMS Outreach Registrar (RN)

About the Role

The Trauma Program Registrar (RN) works in a collaborative environment within Trauma Services at St. Mary Medical Center to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. This position focuses on improving the quality of a Level II Trauma Center by maintaining the efficient operation of the trauma registry.

Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, developing, evaluating, and modifying care plans, and performing complex patient-care procedures. RNs function as part of the Care Team and Support Team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.

The RN provides care to patients of all age groups (Infant through Older Adults) via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and collaboration with other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.
• Maintain the efficient operation of the trauma registry.
• Perform chart review, data abstracting, and submission.
• Retrieve and compile statistical information on all trauma patients.
• Conduct performance improvement (PI) studies based on predetermined criteria.
• Work closely with trauma surgeons to meet requirements for the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF).

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse license by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing or Compact State required.
• Prior relevant experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Minimum 3-4 years of Critical Care RN experience preferred.
• Certifications aligned with area of responsibility; BLS required.
