About the role

Gaston County ACCESS Central Transportation enhances the quality of life for citizens by providing timely, cost-efficient, high-quality public and human service transportation.

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers to and from destinations in the safest and most efficient manner.
• Maintains accurate daily trip logs and provides necessary data for ACCESS' accounting system; receives and accounts for all fares collected daily.
• Inspects vehicles prior to beginning a route and at the end of shift for any service or maintenance concerns.
• Fuels vehicles at propane and fueling stations.
• Operates 2-way radio equipment to receive or provide passenger information.
• Provides physical assistance to passengers upon entering or exiting the vehicle; monitors and controls client behavior during vehicle operation.
• Ensures all applicable safety precautions are taken during vehicle operation.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the inside and outside of the vehicle.
• Participates in quarterly trainings to improve knowledge and skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 21 years of age with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
• Good driving record for the preceding two years (subject to review prior to interview).
• Ability to accept and follow instructions.
• Working telephone at place of residence.
• Must be bondable, courteous, dependable, and able to relate to people of all ages and economic and ethnic backgrounds.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Additional Information

The selected applicant must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

Pay

$18.56 - $22.04 per hour.
