About the role

The Transportation Support Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for providing transportation and on-site supervision to children in out-of-home care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation and supervision of children to/from school, office, foster and/or group homes, and other locations in the community
  • Provide supervision to youth at the office, during transport, or in other community locations, as required
  • Provide, strengthen, and maintain a positive mentoring role by developing rapport with youth under supervision
  • Utilize de-escalation and intervention techniques to assist in stabilizing youth in crisis
  • Assist other program staff and intervene in crisis situations as necessary
  • Attempt to create, strengthen, and maintain positive, supportive working relationships between youth, caregivers, and other professionals involved in serving the youth
  • Provide completed documentation for services rendered within the required timeframes to case management program staff
  • Assist with on-call when necessary in accordance with agency policy and program procedure
  • Maintain client confidentiality according to established policies, federal and state statutes, by obtaining needed releases of information
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children and/or families preferred
  • Knowledge of child development preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to be dependable, flexible, and empathetic
  • Ability to function independently and as a team member
  • Ability to use verbal de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations
  • Ability to work with individuals who exhibit physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviors
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with auto insurance coverage

Schedule

Part Time (Evening Shift - 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Pay

$20.00 per hour
