Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary

This role supervises transportation department activities, including dispatching, routing, product/equipment security, equipment maintenance, and assigns work to transportation associates. Duties also include ensuring productivity, safe work environment, and efficient operations; training associates as necessary; working with cross-functional departments; addressing customer concerns; overseeing on-board computer reviews; monitoring driver schedules; coordinating safety meetings; reviewing and approving driver paperwork; maintaining transportation reporting; and managing department goals.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED
• Three years of combined transportation and/or supply chain operations experience
• One year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Good leadership and training skills
• Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Knowledge of transportation/logistics activities, FMCSA/CSA compliance, DOT requirements, dispatching, backhauls, contract carriers, local regulations, etc.
• Experience with transportation on-boarding software and dispatch/routing software
• Proficient with computers, including MS Office (Excel and Word)

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, walking, standing, using hands and arms, lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance
• Exposure to warehouse environments, changes in temperature and humidity, moderate to high noise levels
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, days, nights, and overtime as necessary
