About the role
The Transportation Supervisor supports transportation operations of the assigned distribution center in the training and coaching of Drivers and Delivery Assistants. Responsible for ensuring safe, legal, cost-efficient, and on-time delivery of freight to member stores. Competitive salary plus bonus.
Schedule
- 10 am to 8 pm Tuesday through Saturday
- 7 pm to 5 am Monday through Friday
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate an assigned team of route drivers to ensure maximum performance relative to product delivery, cost-efficient equipment utilization, service, safety, and customer relations.
- Create a team-oriented environment by developing and coaching Drivers on safety, driving, and customer service skills.
- Monitor Driver performance weekly through PeopleNet; counsel Drivers on performance issues and areas for improvement.
- Supervise assigned Lead Drivers.
- Act as liaison between Dunkin’ Stores and Distribution Center to resolve delivery issues.
- Administer progressive discipline when required; enforce all company policies, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
- Assist Operations Scheduler with driver’s weekly schedules, vacations, and time-off requests.
- Orient and develop new drivers.
- Assist in compiling, monitoring, managing, and implementing the driver performance metrics and incentive program.
- Manage fleet utilization, track vehicle/equipment status, monitor equipment on Out of Service report, and coordinate with Penske/Ryder as needed.
- Ensure compliance with DOT hours of service; respond timely and effectively to breakdowns and accidents.
- Oversee Hub Locations (as assigned) with possible overnight travel to assess routes and Drivers.
- Assist Router in daily route planning as needed.
- Work with the Safety Manager on proper safe driving techniques, proper lifting, and training in all required DOT regulations.
- Accept and assist with special projects as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5 years' experience managing a high-volume delivery route; preferably food delivery experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a transportation-related role within the quick service restaurant industry.
- Strong understanding of the Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations.
- Knowledge of related OSHA standards and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- SAP experience preferred.
- On Board Computer System Experience required.
- Prior experience with routing software; Appian preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Willing and able to work flexible/extended work schedules as needed.
- CDL license and current DOT medical card a plus.
