Transportation Supervisor - 1st Shift
About the role
As the Transportation Supervisor, you will manage day-to-day transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of goods, maintaining compliance with regulations, and supervising and training drivers. You will lead a team of drivers, monitor DOT compliance and fleet performance, and execute strategies to optimize transportation efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of transportation logistics, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Supervise associates, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
- Assist in scheduling and ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Ride with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes.
- Assist the Transportation/Operations Manager with day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, including calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring DOT and OpCo compliance.
- Operate a computer keyboard to enter and access data in an automated fleet management system.
- Monitor vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices to ensure drivers fulfill duties safely.
- Attend quarterly safety meetings as required.
- Coordinate tracking of driver-related information, such as license status, traffic tickets, accidents, and other risk and safety-related data.
- Ensure accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork, including invoices, cash receipts, collection registers, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files, and accident reporting.
- Ensure maintenance of all trucks, tractors, and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections.
- Work with the Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and ensure efficient routing of deliveries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 2+ years of transportation or related experience, including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations and experience with computerized fleet management systems.
- 1+ years of experience leading and supervising a team of 10-15 drivers.
- Valid Interstate Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) and experience driving commercial vehicles.
- Willingness and ability to push, pull, and lift up to 75 lbs repetitively.

Schedule
Tuesday–Saturday, with a start time of approximately 5 AM until completion of shift (on average 50–55 hours per week). Subject to change based on business needs.
50% travel primarily in the local territory for training, safety observations, and occasional route deliveries when coverage is needed. Occasional driving to delivery routes for driver observations.
Pay
$70,000–$80,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus bonus potential based on KPIs.
