Transportation Structural Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineering Intern - Summer 2027. In this role, qualified candidates will have an opportunity to work with a team of experienced Structural Engineers on a variety of bridge and structure related projects. What You’ll Do Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elementsDevelop load calculations and structural design computations for project componentsPrepare organized, detailed structural calculations and technical documentationDesign and draft structural elements, details, and connection designsDevelop plans and specifications using MicroStation softwareWork under the guidance of Project Managers and Project EngineersParticipate in coordination meetings with multidisciplinary project teamsAssist with field inspection and condition assessment of bridges and other structures. What You’ll Need Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program, with a concentration in structural engineering.Computer proficiency with Word and ExcelMicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience preferredUnderstanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, and design standardsValid Driver’s LicenseHousing, relocation, and transportation assistance are not available for this position.
