About the role

The Router position is an individual contributor role responsible for creating, managing, and adjusting delivery routes, calculating delivery times, and ensuring compliance with Federal DOT guidelines while maintaining customer service and driver safety. This role reports to the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor and typically works a Sunday through Thursday shift. The Router interacts with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse, and customer service teams as needed.

Responsibilities

• Establish cost-effective delivery routes compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while maintaining customer service and satisfaction.
• Utilize the Roadnet application to ensure delivery costs align with company expectations.
• Develop routing procedures and schedules to optimize personnel and equipment use, emphasizing driver safety.
• Perform daily maintenance in the Roadnet application to ensure accurate and up-to-date information, including:
  • Standard routes and customer delivery requirements
  • Geo-coding, delivery days, and time windows
  • Service time types and overrides
  • Account types, meal breaks, and route start times
  • Pre/post trips, starting/ending depots, and travel modes
  • Mapping colors, assigned drivers, equipment, and DOT road checks
  • Plan maintenance for equipment costing, restrictions, and capacities
• Generate and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer, and KPI reports on scheduled intervals.
• Recap previous day’s routing results and adjust standard routes as needed.
• Create maps and print driving instructions for drivers unfamiliar with assigned routes.
• Produce and distribute the driver manifest report nightly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience in distribution, logistics, or transportation routing.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and various routing software applications.
