About the role

The Transportation Planning Supervisor - Projects & Campaigns position plays a crucial role in supporting and executing transportation related campaign initiatives nationally. This individual will lead logistics planning activities, coordinate with project leadership, and ensure alignment with project objectives, timelines, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Freight Order Conversion Process and Primary Responsibilities
    • Planning transportation movements in district branches
    • Communicating with internal stakeholders to support customer service goals
    • Addressing and recommending alternatives for inbound and 3rd party logistic expediting requirements
    • Moving inbound, outbound, third-party, and STO products to meet customer requirements
    • Ordering and approving SPOT transportation capacity
    • Working with local branches for capacity planning and special requirements
  • Project Support and Execution
    • Managing schedule and execution for project teams
    • Working with Procurement to solicit rates from common carriers for special projects and campaigns
    • Tracking movement of PF and CC when utilized for special projects/campaigns
    • Meting regularly with project core teams and transportation leadership
    • Providing light and weekend coverage when required to support projects/campaigns
    • Providing project reporting to multi-departmental leadership
  • Freight Lane Audit and Compliance
    • Filing and resolving freight claim issues
    • Auditing freight bills and approving for payment
  • Quality and Improvement
    • Making recommendations for transportation equipment and assisting in the selection process
    • Responding to District Transportation quality and customer service requirements
    • Interpreting company policy and ensuring consistent application
    • Providing input to management regarding transportation operations and improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent business experience
  • 3-5 years of Transportation, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, or Operations experience within Univar Solutions or equivalent business experience
  • To complete and become proficient in TMS training and system
  • Knowledge of Purchasing or Logistics processes and functions
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong technical skills
  • In-depth SAPTM system knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated team performer
  • High level of decision-making ability

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have a college degree or equivalent business experience, 3-5 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in TMS systems. Knowledge of purchasing and logistics, strong organizational and technical skills, and high-level decision-making abilities are also required.

Pay and Schedule

This is a hybrid position and can be based out of our locations in The Woodlands, TX or Houston, TX.
