Transportation Planner, Entry Level

Burgess & Niple is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Planner to join our Columbus, OH office. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful client projects while growing your career and contributing to the community.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety analyses and network screening, including systemic analysis and site-specific studies
• Apply Safe System Approach (SSA) principles, proven safety countermeasures, and Highway Safety Manual methodologies on assigned projects
• Collaborate and learn from experienced Professional Engineers and Planners, mentored by industry leaders in transportation
• Grow and develop skills including traffic engineering tasks, technical skills, project management, and business development
• Support experienced planners and engineers on transportation projects, including traffic modeling and analysis, safety analysis, and traffic forecasting

Requirements

• Completion of a 4-year degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning, Geography (urban), Sustainable Built Environments, or similar field
• 0-4 years of experience in transportation planning, safety planning, or other planning or engineering studies/analysis
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate
• Project management and business development experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microstation, GIS, or AutoCAD; experience with Synchro, HCS, HSM, or IHSDM a plus
• ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred
• Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive approach to problem solving
• Strong interest in transportation and motivated to improve the efficiency and safety of transportation systems
