Key Responsibilities
- Lead transportation analyses for discretionary land use actions (rezonings, special permits, variances), independently determining appropriate methodologies and defensible impact conclusions under CEQR.
- Direct trip generation, trip assignment, modal split, parking demand, and queuing analyses; oversee QA/QC of technical work prepared by junior staff.
- Plan and manage traffic, pedestrian, transit, parking, and queuing data collection programs, ensuring methodological consistency and defensibility.
- Evaluate development proposals and zoning actions to identify transportation impacts, safety concerns, multimodal conflicts, and mitigation opportunities.
- Assess roadway, intersection, sidewalk, transit, and curbside operations, including traffic control devices and capacity constraints.
- Lead transportation modeling using AutoTURN, Synchro, HCS, and related tools; provide technical oversight of assumptions and model outputs.
- Prepare and review CEQR-compliant transportation sections for EAS and EIS documents, including impact determinations and mitigation strategies.
- Develop maps, graphics, visualizations, and technical documentation for agency submissions, client deliverables, and public presentations.
- Represent the firm at client meetings, agency consultations, hearings, and public forums.
- Support proposal development, including scope definition, methodology selection, and level-of-effort estimates.
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff on CEQR methodology, technical analysis, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate across disciplines to support broader environmental, planning, zoning, and infrastructure initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field required.
- Master’s degree or minimum 5 years of relevant transportation experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing transportation analyses for CEQR review.
- Strong working knowledge of NYC DOT methodologies (preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoTURN, Synchro, HCS, and similar traffic analysis tools.
- Experience with GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to clearly illustrate transportation and urban planning concepts graphically.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
Pay
Base salary range: $100,000 – $135,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Total compensation may vary based on location, bonus eligibility, licensure, and other professional credentials.
