Transportation Operations Technician II

Responsibilities

• Repairing guardrails
• Cutting trees/brush
• Patching roads
• Picking litter
• Ditching
• Assisting with plowing and salting during winter months
• Overtime may be required
• Assisting with vehicle and equipment maintenance
• Ability to withstand exposure to extreme outdoor weather
• Considerable overtime during heavy snowfall or other emergencies (condition of employment)
• May be required to report to work outside normal schedule/area and must be reachable by phone
• Use of tools and lifting of materials commonly used in maintenance work
• Exposure to normal dangers associated with heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and roadside debris
• Possible exposure to blood or airborne pathogens
• Hazards present when working on roads with moving traffic
• Participation in a random drug and alcohol‑testing program required

Requirements

Minimum qualifications: One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor, including either one season
