About the role

The Transportation Operations Manager oversees transportation operations across multiple sites within a defined region. This role requires driving process improvements, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance, and motivating a team to meet the demands of a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers to streamline logistics within each site
  • Ensure overall safety, quality, and performance and customer experience of the region
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities according to organizational policies and procedures
  • Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals
  • Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needs
  • Mentor, train, and develop teammates for career progression and learning
  • Develop and share best practices across shifts and network
  • Travel up to 50% may be required
  • Flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

  • 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
  • Experience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employees
  • Experience scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field
  • Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments
