Transportation Operations Manager

About the role

The Transportation Operations Manager oversees transportation operations across multiple sites within a defined region. The role involves driving process improvements, ensuring safety, quality, and performance, and maintaining high standards of customer experience. Supervisory responsibilities include leading a team of Transportation Area Managers, appraising performance, and mentoring and developing team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers to streamline logistics within each site
• Ensure overall safety, quality, and performance and customer experience of the region
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities according to organizational policies and procedures
• Maintain accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals
• Strategically plan and forecast, appraise performance, reward, and coach employees
• Develop and share best practices across shifts and network
• Travel up to 50% may be required
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Requirements

• 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
• Flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Qualifications

• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience
• Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen)
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
• Experience in customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience in exceeding quota and key performance metrics
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field
• Experience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employees
• Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments
