Pay
- Hourly rate: $25.11 (Senior Transportation Officer rate: $27.23 after 6–9 months based on performance)
- Sign-on bonus: $3,500
- Safety & Performance Bonus Incentive: $2,500
- Referral bonus: $2,500 per person (no cap, does not have to be at your same location)
- Guaranteed 40-hour paycheck minimum per week

About the role
This position is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of the inmate, detainee, and/or resident population and trip movement, following sound correctional and transportation industry practices.
Responsibilities
- Operate the assigned trip safely and orderly to promote public safety, staff safety, and a secure, humane environment for inmates, detainees, and/or residents.
- If qualified, serve as the Assistant Officer in Charge (AOIC) on trip activity unless directed otherwise by a supervisor.
- Monitor and supervise inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per TCA policy, including resolving disputes, taking corrective action, protecting rights, and completing required documentation.
- Report injuries or accidents in a timely and accurate manner per TCA policy; take appropriate action in emergencies.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings; maintain effective communication with management and team members.
- Maintain communication with Trip Management throughout the routed trip; consult with authorities before deviating from the planned route.
- Complete preventive maintenance of equipment, including restraints, weapons, OIC kits, and vehicles.
- Manage and control resources such as inmate/detainee medications and property.
- Maintain professional relationships and communications with staff, customer agencies, and inmates/detainees/residents.
- Apply restraints and use force strictly according to TCA policies and customer contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Achieve and maintain Officer in Charge (OIC) certification to be eligible for AOIC assignments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 21 or older.
- Willing to work changing hours.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- 1 year of corrections experience, law enforcement, military police, military security, detention officer experience, or security officer experience detaining/guarding people.
- Degree in criminal justice or a related field.
- Valid Class A or B driver’s license with airbrake and passenger endorsements, OR a CDL Class A or B and willingness to obtain airbrake and passenger endorsements.
Training
- Must be willing to travel to Nashville, TN, for a 3-week paid training program (with per diem).
- Annual recertification and in-service training required.
