Essential Job Functions
- Support the safe transport of students to and from school.
- Maintain maintenance of the vehicles to ensure reliability.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspection programs.
- Overhaul, repair, and recondition buses, vehicles, and other machinery.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions, including replacing defective parts.
- Perform emergency road services and attend to immediate vehicle issues.
- Perform service jobs such as lubrication, tire repair, and cleaning.
- Keep records of work performed.
- Participate in housekeeping duties like shop cleanup and grounds maintenance.
Job Standards
- Hold a valid CDL or agree to obtain one within one year.
- Have a satisfactory MVR.
- Drive a manual transmission.
- Pass a reference check.
- Attend the Georgia Department of Education School Bus Technicians Workshop annually.
- Possess ASE Certification.
- Have at least five years of job training in mid-range diesel engines and gasoline engines.
- Diagnose and repair various engine systems, including fuel and ignition systems.
- Work on hydraulic and air brake systems, steering components, and drive lines.
- Diagnose and repair transmissions, clutches, and pressure plates.
