Transportation Manager

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (as dictated by business need).

Responsibilities

• Selects, trains, and develops an effective and efficient staff:
  • Makes every reasonable effort to select, train, and develop qualified, diverse workforce.
  • Establishes and communicates performance standards and objectives; conducts performance appraisals.
  • Recommends salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
• Monitors operations and staff and recommends changes in methods, procedures, structure, and additions or changes in personnel to secure optimum utilization of resources.
• Responsible for driver debriefs and TSSW audits.
• Counsels employees on educational and job opportunities to enhance their career development and keeps staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and company by conducting periodic meetings.
• Administers all Company policies and procedures, communicates to staff, interprets as necessary, and ensures compliance and safety.
• Monitors and ensures employees perform their functions safely and productively; makes recommendations for changes or improvements to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Monitors department work productivity, reports on trends, and recommends and implements changes to continually improve work productivity.
• Develops subordinate managers and/or supervisors in management techniques of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling through continued coaching and feedback on performance.
• Active member of the Safety Improvement Committee (SIC) and drives safety through attendance of periodic CSR meetings.
• Maintains positive relationships with vendors to facilitate truck fleet, plant operation, and building maintenance.
• Analyzes profit and loss reports pertaining to the transportation department.
• Oversees and participates in the maintenance of Driver Qualification Files (DQF), DOT Log Files, and Vehicle Condition Reports (VCR) for all CSRs and equipment; ensures accuracy and completeness.
• Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction through customer site visits.
• Analyzes transportation production reports to ensure improved productivity and reduce expenses; oversees routes and reroutes based on reporting results and assists with route rebalance initiatives.
• Reviews, analyzes, and approves payroll hours to ensure overtime hours are necessary and all employees are working efficiently.
• Communicates proactively with Transportation and Plant personnel to ensure prompt and accurate servicing of customers.
• Facilitates customer offsite conversions.
• Leads the accident investigation process to determine root causes of accidents, on-the-job injuries, property damage, and close calls to prevent recurrence.
• Manages acquisition integration initiatives.
• Performs other related duties as required or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in a related field.
• 7 years of industry-related experience or equivalent work experience.
• Driver’s License (preferred).

Physical Requirements

This job operates in a mix of office and plant/field environments and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. The role is designated as safety-sensitive, requiring strict compliance with all safety rules and protocols. The successful candidate may be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment screening, post-incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing, in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
