Pay
Base salary of $118,000 to $145,000 (based on experience). Eligible for an annual bonus up to 20% of base salary and a 3% quarterly bonus.

Responsibilities
- Direct, coordinate, and manage daily transportation operations.
- Ensure timely collection and delivery of raw materials, fats, oils, hides, and finished products.
- Monitor route performance and develop strategies to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Optimize fleet utilization, driver schedules, and asset deployment.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Sales, Safety, and Customer Service teams to support district objectives.
- Oversee company fleet performance, maintenance schedules, repairs, and vehicle utilization.
- Partner with maintenance personnel to ensure preventive maintenance programs are executed effectively.
- Monitor vehicle condition, fuel consumption, idle time, and operating costs.
- Support capital planning initiatives involving fleet replacements and equipment purchases.
- Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture throughout the transportation department.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service requirements, environmental regulations, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Lead accident investigations and corrective action programs.
- Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, ride-alongs, and coaching activities.
- Monitor driver qualification files, medical certifications, licensing requirements, and vehicle inspections.
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop transportation personnel.
- Manage driver and supervisor performance expectations.
- Conduct performance reviews and career development discussions.
- Foster employee engagement, accountability, and retention.
- Promote teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Analyze key transportation metrics including cost per mile, fuel efficiency, route profitability, labor utilization, and fleet maintenance costs.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Transportation Manager.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technology.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in transportation is a plus.
