About the role
Aviagen is seeking a driven individual with shipping and leadership experience to assist the Egg Transportation Director with the shipping process and office functions.
Responsibilities
- Schedule farm routes for egg pickups and deliveries to hatcheries
- Manage DOT regulatory compliance
- Oversee maintenance programs for all operating equipment
- Manage company biosecurity programs
- Foster a strong safety culture
- Purchase truck maintenance supplies
- Handle all duties related to egg hauling, including scheduling, addressing farm issues, managing driver hours spreadsheets, etc.
- Communicate with egg depots on delivery needs
- Manage the fuel station
- Coach drivers to reduce unsafe behaviors (e.g., unbuckling, distracted driving, speeding, hard stops, incomplete stops)
- Manage freight exceptions and adjust driver ETAs based on pick-up and delivery schedules
- Oversee profit and loss statement management
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
- Occasional travel to other areas of operation (10%)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3-5 years of relevant transportation experience
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, coworkers, and employees in other departments
- Knowledge of departmental regulations and procedures
- Ability to work independently, complete assignments with minimal instructions, and maintain accurate records and reports
- Ability to supervise drivers in a fair and professional manner
