Transportation Maintenance Worker

About the role

This classification is responsible for assisting in the construction, repair, maintenance of City roadways. This position is subject to be included in the off-hours, on-call response service.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance operations on city rights-of-way or property; typical work will consist of:
  • Litter and illegal dumping removal
  • Assist with the installation of concrete
  • Digs trenches, cleans catch basins, manholes
  • Clears debris from roadways
  • Removes dead animals from roadway and rights-of-way
  • Operates equipment such as but not limited to chainsaws, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, chipper, mowers, tractors, etc.
• Performs maintenance and construction tasks for asphalt paving and repair operations:
  • Typical work will consist of shoveling asphalt or gravel to patch potholes
  • Flags traffic at construction and maintenance projects
• Performs roadside tree and vegetation control and emergency hazard response
• Performs and assists with inclement weather removal within the roadway and rights-of-way
• Performs all duties in conform
