Transportation Lead - Non CDL

About the role

The Transportation Lead assists in organizing daily deliveries and pick-ups for delivery employees according to geographic area and availability of delivery employees. The role also includes responding to emergency delivery calls, ensuring delivery staff assemble and depart within required time frames, and assisting with special orders and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and organizes daily deliveries and pick-ups for delivery employees according to geographic area and availability of delivery employees.
• Schedules additional deliveries as patient and referral requests are received.
• Responds to emergency delivery calls on a regular and on-call basis.
• Ensures delivery staff assembles and departs location within required time frame.
• Prepares performance appraisals and makes recommendations on selection, promotion, merit increases and employee discipline.
• Participates in developmental tasks designed to build supervisory skills.
• Maintains daily vehicle maintenance logs and delivery employee incident reports.
• Maintains accurate files containing purchase orders of equipment and medical supplies.
• Compiles data on delivery productivity, such as number of stops made and number of miles driven.
• Assigns, directs work, and coaches staff.
• Delivers and picks up equipment from homecare patients.
• Sets up equipment and instructs patients on the basic use of equipment.
• Affords assistance to patients in solving problems regarding equipment use.
• Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including providing documents for the driver qualification file and abiding by hours of service, daily log, hazardous materials (placarding, training and shipping papers) and vehicle inspection and maintenance regulations.
• May occasionally perform supervisor's responsibilities if there is a temporary shortage of department supervision.

Requirements

• Education and/or Experience: Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required. At least five years’ related experience is required. Minimum of three years driving history required.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations: Must possess a commercial driver’s license with hazardous materials, cargo tank and air brake endorsements. Must meet job-related requirements to comply with D.O.T., F.D.A. and J.C.A.H.O. regulations.

Qualifications

• Computer Skills: Computer savvy with: MS Excel, MS Office and MS Project required.
• Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal) required.
• Mathematical Skills: College level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data required.

Skills

• Physical Demands: Frequent standing and lifting objects from 1” to 36” high and may need to lift items ranging from 10 to 160 pounds, utilizing company provided safety equipment or by following designated safety procedures and carry objects for distances ranging from 1 ft -350 ft, including travel up and down stairs or in elevators. This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder.
