Key Responsibilities
- Available as resource, hands on leader and mentor to transportation team members.
- Aid Senior Leadership in interviewing, hiring, training, work planning, appraising performance, discipline, and problem solving.
- Aid Senior Leadership with ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of food products in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment.
- Clearly communicates to peers and senior leaders' problems/success stories regarding KPI's, staffing needs, team member performance, interdepartmental or company concerns.
- Communicate route changes with drivers and sales staff.
- Inspect physical condition of trucks, carts, wheel ramps and chalks to ensure company compliance.
- Prepare work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment as needed.
- Maintain HACCP and other food quality requirements at or above established company standards.
- Coach team members daily and partner with Human Resources, Peers and Senior leadership with implementing PIP (Performance Improvement Plans) for team members as needed.
- Assist in accident investigations to ensure protocol and timeliness or report is completed.
- Order supplies and maintain suitable inventory levels.
- Assist with DOT compliance through random inspections and coaching drivers when deficiencies are found and not reported.
- Assist with keeping records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders.
- Empower drivers to communicate when efficiency can be found in their daily work.
- Recommend policy, staffing and equipment improvements to senior leadership.
- Ensure that drivers are properly trained on all department policies and procedures.
- Maintain strong/professional relationships and communications lines are open, effective and positive.
- Work on the dock as needed to assist with load out of routes to ensure correct loading.
- Make deliveries and pickups as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Transportation Manager.
