Transportation Intern - Environmental

About the role

Garver is seeking a motivated environmental sciences student to join our Transportation Team in Rogers, AR. This internship offers real-world experience in documenting environmental resources, training by experienced environmental staff and project managers, and an understanding of how to apply academic training in the consulting industry.

Actively participate in environmental compliance and planning projects by working alongside our dynamic consulting team both in the field and at the office. Become familiar with local, state, and federal regulations relevant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Assist in preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation, including Section 404 permit applications and supporting materials. Explore interdisciplinary interests such as ecology, hydrology, cultural resources, hazardous materials, and environmental justice while gaining exposure to infrastructure projects across transportation, aviation, and water business lines. Learn and utilize industry-related software such as ESRI ArcGIS products.

Requirements

• Pursuing an environmental science, ecology, biology, or related degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work in different environments, both indoors and outdoors, as necessary.
• Proven time management skills and work ethic.
• Proven professional communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• A strong desire to assist with a wide array of infrastructure improvement projects.

Preferred Skills

• Previous internship or co-op experience in the environmental field.
• Previous experience using GPS and/or GIS software.
• Previous experience in environmental fieldwork.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
