About the Role

Our experienced, fast-paced Fayetteville Bridge Team is seeking a civil engineering student for an internship. This intern will be mentored by our dynamic team and exposed to many aspects of bridge design, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, and inspection for a variety of projects.

  • Further develop skills learned in the classroom by participating in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • Become familiar with AASHTO LRFD and other standards used in bridge design
  • Be an active member in developing plans for all components of bridges (layouts, substructures, superstructures), typically in Bentley’s MicroStation
  • Visit the site of a bridge being actively constructed to strengthen understanding of what is detailed in plans

Successful candidate will be able to read and interpret design codes, communicate effectively, and be willing to learn.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Strong interest in structural design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player with commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team

Preferred Skills

  • Previous internship experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Previous structural undergrad course related work

Work Environment

This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
