By joining our Williamstown Section as a Transportation Engineering Technologist III, you'll have the opportunity to complete a variety of complex technical engineering projects including plans, proposals, specifications, and addenda. You will provide expertise in construction projects for the Williamstown Section Office and coordinate with consultants or contractors on specialized programs.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, coordinates, and inspects the work of sub-professionals on survey operations.
• Researches deeds, calculates areas, and writes descriptions of right-of-way to be acquired.
• Compiles and interprets data necessary for the development of roadway plans.
• Acts as survey chief and/or operates survey equipment to collect necessary information for the development of roadway plans.

Requirements

Education: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology, or construction technology.

OR

Graduate with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.

Experience, Training, or Skills: Four years of engineering-related experience.

Substitute Education for Experience:

• Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
• Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree or an associate degree in an engineering field.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Substitute Experience for Education:

• Four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above.
• Seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above.
• Ten years of engineering-related experience, where related technical or vocational training substitutes for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above.
• Eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified Inspection Team Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.

Special Requirements:

• Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
• Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites and other types of work zones which require the following of safety procedures.

Travel may be required for training or attending meetings.

Pay

Salary: $5,169.46 monthly
