About the role
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet seeks a Transportation Engineering Technologist III to support statewide pavement and roadway asset management programs through the processing, quality control, and reporting of automated roadway data.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage statewide LCMS, LiDAR, and Pavement Asset Data
- Perform quality control of automated pavement, imagery, and asset data
- Prepare engineering data for pavement evaluations, mapping, and HPMS reporting
- Serve as KYTC technical liaison with data collection vendors and software preparation
- Aid branch staff with engineering data access, reporting, and operational tasks
Requirements
- Four years of engineering-related experience
- Valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
- Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program
- Seven years of engineering-related experience with a bachelor's degree or an associate degree in an engineering field
- Eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified Inspection Team Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bridge inspection experience under supervision of a Qualified Inspection Team Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course
Skills
- Experience in engineering data processing and reporting
- Knowledge of automated roadway data collection technologies (LCMS, LiDAR, imaging systems)
- Proficiency in database systems, data management, and cloud-based file workflows
- Skills in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, and other data analysis tools
- Technical troubleshooting and vendor coordination skills

$5,169.46 monthly
