Job Responsibilities
- Establishes line and grade for proposed highway and provides field information for design.
- Operates specialized survey equipment including manual total station, data collector, and level for basic survey operations.
- Uses level rod, prism poles, and bush axe/saw to clear brush and take measurements.
- Assists with and operates robotic total stations and advanced GPS equipment.
- Maintains and records field notes, reduces level notes, and checks for elevation precision.
- Affords assistance in operating, calibrating, and maintaining basic equipment and ensuring job safety.
- Plots property information and locates property lines and corners through courthouse and field research.
- Collects utility data in the field.
- Maintains personal daily work log.
- Utilizes ESS in SCEIS to enter work time with charge codes and leave requests.
- Maintains personal information using ESS.
- Aids in matters related to highway design, including horizontal and vertical alignment.
- Sets ground panels and surveys to establish coordinates and elevations for photogrammetric topographic mapping.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- A high school diploma and one and one-half (1.5) years of relevant experience.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Walking for extended periods, working in rough terrain, near motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
- Occasional exposure to noise.
- Working outside of normal work schedules and weekends may be required.
