Annual salary: $77,856.00 - $145,824.00. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.

About the Position

Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent prepares Project Initiation Documents (PIDs).

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering feasibility studies and prepare conceptual plans based on preliminary geometric designs.
• Calculate preliminary cost estimates and write draft and final reports.
• Serve as a team lead or work independently on assigned projects.
• Prepare and review Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), required in the planning phase of project development for programming major projects.
• Coordinate PID activities with functional units in the District, Headquarters, Regional and Local agencies, and the Federal Highway Administration to produce quality PIDs and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards.
• Utilize the Highway Design Manual, Project Development Procedures Manual, and other design manuals to prepare a PID that will form the basis for programming and designing the project.
